Christian Devotions Ministries

Chr
istian Devotions Ministries seeks to spread the Good News of God’s faithfulness through daily devotions that offer scriptural insight and encouragement through everyday parables.

Our mission is to sow the Word of God through the Internet, print and radio. “…So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty-handed. They'll do the work I sent them to do, they'll complete the assignment I gave them.” Isaiah 55:11 (The Message)

Christian Devotions Ministries delivers daily devotions that touch the heart, tickle the funny bone and move the soul. Each devotion offers a personal application, translating the wisdom of God into daily living. Our goal is to encourage, uplift, and plant the Word into hearts. We are the Sowers. Others water but the glory belongs to God.

IN THE BEGINNING… Christian Devotions began in July of 2007, when God spoke to co-founder, Eddie Jones, and prompted him to purchase the domain christiandevotions.us. Jones contacted friend and fellow author, Cindy Sproles, who was already managing a small devotional ministry, and encouraged her to post her devotions on his site. Working independently, the pair sought to find other skilled Christian writers with the gift of devotional writing.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work…” Ecclesiastes 4:9

Shortly before Christmas of that year the two went to God in prayer and asked, “Is this your will, Lord, or ours?” By the end of that month site visitorship jumped from 100 to over 1000. The answer was clear. The team began to diligently lift the site before God and, by the fall of 2008, God had provided nearly 5000 monthly visitors and 60 writers, many of whom were award winning authors giving freely of their talents. Our Mission In N
ovember of 2008, the ministry launched a web based radio show, Christian Devotions Speak UP! with professional radio personalities Marianne Jordan and Scott McCausey as hosts. Marianne and Scott offer a voice to authors, missionaries, religious personalities and other individuals who are making a difference in God’s kingdom. To date over 4000 listeners have tuned in to Christian Devotions Speak UP! Guests include, Nicholas Sparks, Steven James (Patrick Bowers series), Max Lucado, Alton Gansky & Jeff Struecker (Certain Jeopardy), Jane Hampton Cook, Angie Hunt, Eva Marie Everson, Cecil Murphy (90 Minutes in Heaven, co-written with Don Piper.), Wayne Jacobsen (The Shack), John Riddle, Deborah Raney, Loree Lough, DiAnn Mills, Ann Tatlock, Yvonne Lehman and Dr. Freda Bush and Dr. Joe McIlhaney.

In the winter of 2009 Christian Devotions launched their teaching ministry. To date they’ve taught in Delaware, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee with plans to return to these venues in 2010 plus conferences in Colorado and New Mexico. In the spring of 2009 Christian Devotions Ministry published their book, Spirit & HEART: A Devotional Journey. This book contains thirty devotions centered around finding the heart of God and his passion for your life. Each devotion also provides an area for journaling with instructions on how to develop a quiet time with God, study His Word and learn to listen when He speaks.

In July of 2009, Christian Devotions Ministries launched DevoKids, our children’s ministry. DevoKids.com is a fully interactive devotional site designed to shape the next generation of Christian disciples. DevoKids provides lessons in sound money management, musical worship, workshops on writing, author interviews and side trips into food fixings and nature studies. There’s also a “free” give-away site. This fall we’re launching our Christianity 101 curriculum, “Bee-ing” God’s Children.

In September of 2009 Christian Devotions Ministries launched their new Spanish site,

Devocional Cristiano.com
This had been a dream for some time but when we received emails this summer from several students in Cuba requesting that we add them to our daily email list we felt it was time to push forward. DevocionesCristiano.com mirrors the English version of our adult site. We look fo
rward to watching God grow this segment of the ministry.

In November we launched He Said, She Said Devotions. This ministry provides personal insights into biblical truths from the unique perspective of one man and one woman. No matter if you are newlyweds or newly retired, He Said, She Said Devotions can put the spark back into your love for the Lord. These devotions will touch the heart, tickle the funny bone and bring you to your knees in worship.

Our Children’s and Church Mi
nistry, our DevoKids staff is available to work with youth ministers and teachers to help children learn the importance of prayer, daily devotion, and Christian principles through our unique learning methods. DevoKids is a kid-run site, teaching children how to minister to friends and others using fun-filled activities. DevoKids encourages children to write for the site, share their thoughts, grow in Christ. On the site, children learn how to deal with their problems in a safe environment.

The next step for Christian Devotions Ministries is to partner with churches. We believe the local church remains the foundation of spiritual growth. By providing congregations with printed resources,
tools and writing workshops we will work with your ministerial staff to strengthen the devotional life of your congregation. Through our course on Turning Personal Experiences into Parables for Impact we will teach your congregation how to write compelling devotions that can then be used in church newsletters, periodicals and support materials.

Sowing Seeds in the Community

We also offer the option of helping your church publish a book of thirty devotions tailored to a specific ministry, outreach or program. Once the devotional book is published your church can use it as teaching and ministry tool aimed toward shut-ins, nursing homes, hospitals, new church members and neighborhood outreach. If you wish, we can mix the writings of your church members with those of best-selling Christian authors. When completed your church’s devotional book will serve not only as an outreach tool but also as a small group study, Sunday school curriculum or fund-raising gift. Christian Devotions stands ready to help children and teens develop a devotional publication which they can use as a fundraiser to help aid in developing mission trips. Church Media Broadcasting Christian Devotions Ministries offers classes on how to launch your own web-based radio ministry. This dynamic channel for evangelism is free and a great way for your church to expand beyond the walls of your sanctuary. Classes on Starting Your Own Web-Based Radio Show, Turning Personal Experiences into Parables for Impact, and Habitual Love – 30 Days to Falling in Love with Christ are available both in person and online via our educational channel. Audio versions of our devotions are available online and via CDs for the sight impaired.

Here are some ways you can help spread the seeds of financial faith.

1) Tell at least three people about Faith & FINANCE: In God We Trust - A Journey to Financial Dependence. Encourage them to purchase a copy online at: www.faithandfinances.us or from the publisher at: books@christiandevotions.us. If they want to call and give us their shipping address, we’ll drop a copy in the mail, with an invoice. 919.562.8439.
2) Tell your friends to visit the web site (www.faithandfinances.us) and take the Faith & FINANCES challenge. Each week we update the site with testimonials of how God has provided for and prodded in the hearts, wallets and purses of readers.
3) Write a book review for your local paper, blog, church web site, personal web site or online at Amazon.com. Search for the title of the book, then scroll down and click to add your review. Potential readers do read the reviews, so this is a great way to help.
4) Do know someone who hosts an online radio show, or works in traditional media? Ask them to invite us to be on their show. We can be reached at: cindy@christiandevotions.us.
5) If you own a retail business, consider putting a display of these books on your counter to resell to customers. If you work with a ministry or church, ask them to purchase several copies to be used as gifts, recruitment tools, or study guides. In the past, we’ve had companies purchase large quantities of our books to give to their new employees. This is a great way to spread the seeds of faith.
6) Invite us to speak to your church, group or community. In early 2010 we’ll begin booking venues for our nationwide book tour and we’d love to visit your city. Contact Cindy to get us on your calendar; cindy@christiandevotions.us.
